VINTAGE SEWING CHEST

This past Spring my friend Karen from Texas, gifted to me a gorgeous vintage sewing chest. I told her I would paint and keep it as a treasure given from her. I finally got it finished and have it displayed in my shabby rose room. I nearly forgot the before pic and started to paint it when I remembered, and quickly took a picture as I was painting. It is painted fresh crisp white with light pink accents, roses and trims. This was a fun project and perfect to hold my sewing projects and the beautiful needle roll that Karen also made and gave me for my birthday.

Karen, If you are reading this, thank you so much. This vintage treasure is one I will enjoy and use for many years to come. Your kindness in giving me this gift will never be forgotten.
Here are some pics of the process and finished chest!

Sharing a Garden Journal.
Since planting a new garden this Spring, I started a garden journal to keep track of my plantings with notes and ideas during the process. While I am not a scrapbooker and this book is rather primitive inside, it is made with manila papers great for glueing and taking notes right on the page. The front cover is made from a copy of a fabric block I purchased from my dear friend,Pat of Just Between Us Girls. She has a great graphic selection on fabric for creating art work. Visit her blog to see the many she offers. Like I mentioned, I made a copy of the graphic to position on the cover, saving the fabric block for other projects.

Back to the studio I go. Till next time, Have a great week!

The sewing box turned out really pretty. I love the soft pink colors- and you painted on the inside too!! What a nice gift from a friend. The garden journal is a great idea - unfortunately for me, I don't have the proverbial green thumb so I leave the planting to my hubby.

Oh that sewing basket turned out so pretty! It does not look like the same object it once was....amazing and beautiful!
I don't do the gardening, so a garden journal is not for me. I admire you, however, for making time to do that!

I have that very same sewing chest.... My elderly Aunt gave it to me. I have looked at it longingly wanting to paint it... alas... My Aunt doesn't believe in the theory that once you give something it is no longer yours..... LOL!! If I were to paint it she would never forgive me.. so-o-o-o to keep peace I will wait! LOL!! (don't ask me what I am waiting for..) LOL!!

Hello Celeste!

I had to laugh a little when you mentioned about forgetting to take a "before" picture :-)Isn't blogging just fun? It gives you that little excitement to share something for your . . . our friends here. I love that in blogging.

The sewing box is so sweet. And it has the perfect spot in the floor by the chair. I think, if ever someone sleeps on that room , by morning she'll be full of inspiration :-) I really though when you posted your guest room before, it was finished. but i guess there will always be something that'll come along and just fill a place in that room. And it'll belong too :-)
