A Comfy Summer Spot

to enjoy the lazy days of Summer.
Well, I don't know about the days being lazy, but that's an ole saying I often hear used to describe, what I bet we all wish Summer to be.
Well, we can wish right?
However, I do love a place to retreat after a full day
or early morning spot for a cup of tea.
Every Spring, after a good cleaning and sprucing up, our patio or Lanai is ready to welcome our days.

Recently on our working vacation, while my Best Guy did this~~~

~and Miss Beazy did this.

I worked here, covering the love seat with a gorgeous rose quilt and making new pillows.

The quilt is a King size reversible and worked wonderfully to tuck and shape to the sofa. I used the pillow shams here on two side chairs with the reverse side, but since this pic, I have turned them to the roses. I like it better!

The middle pillow was made from some fabric I had in my stash using a combo of green toile and a rose design I love. The vintage lace was made by my grandmother and I weaved a soft tan velvet ribbon through her delicate stitches.

The square pillow is reversible from the toile to the rose design and the heart shape pillow was a Goodwill find that I covered in the toile and added a bit of bling.

For the side chairs I added rose pillows to each. I had these in my stash of stuff and thought the embroidery design went nicely with the quilt. The throw is a design by Warren Kimble with birdhouses, birds and flowers.

Next I placed a few favorite cottage books on the coffee table~

Spruced up the old fireplace.

And~~ so goes another beginning of the Summer season. I guess the moral of this story is how using a quilt with coordinating pillow shams makes for the start of a great little makeover. Using what we already have and seeing the use in a new way. I love to do this kind of decorating.

Another great find was this outdoor lace tablecloth. I placed it on my bistro table and love it. The size is 70 round.

The house trim is also finished and best guy has a good tan from that project. He is so glad to have this complete now that our temps are reaching 100 degrees here in our beloved Lone Star State.

Hope you have a great weekend and see you again soon.
Blessings and Blue Skies.

Hi Celestina,

Love your use of the quilt and shams. I, too, like to take things that were meant for one thing and use them for something altogether different.

You have a beautiful home. I moved to Arkansas from the DFW area 3 years ago and I tell you the truth, I really miss my pool! Seems like everyone has a pool there! That was a must when we bought our house. Hardly anyone has one here! Including us. But someday...

Hello Celeste :) Everything look so cozy and inviting! I still haven't set things up on our front covered porch yet. Have a couple of things out, but not everything I want to put out there...yet :)

Have a great weekend, and relax some by that fabulous pool!

Celeste, I think I'll join Miss Beazy and then take a nap! *sigh* LOL! It IS a hot and lazy summer day here in PA and I'm painting but every so often am also yawning! Hubby is off to the store to buy gin and tonic for tall, cold drinks that WILL probably put me to sleep. The strange thing...I am painting pumpkins! LOL!

Your poolside chairs and pillows all look like the most wonderful place to relax and sew and dream and take naps!

Here's the question...when Miss Beazy gets out of the pool, does she shake all over you? ;-)

Hugs and XX,
Diane

Your rose quilt on your loveseat is so pretty and the pillows are gorgeous. I especially love the pillow with your grandmother's lace on it... how priceless! I would have never thought to use pillow shams as chair cushions, they look perfect! Your fireplace is also beautiful, you have such a way with decorating... And that throw with the birds, birdhouses and flowers is adorable... I am going to Google that name Warren Kimble and see if they are available... wishing you a happy weekend in your perfect comfy summer spot... xoxo Julie Marie

It looks so inviting to just sit and enjoy being lazy. I love your pictures. Someday I would like to have a screen-in porch added to my house so you could enjoy being outside and not have to deal with the bugs. Our weather has been very hot and muggy with storms popping up out of the blue. We were lucky that they missed us other then some rain. Of course We had the lightening. Have a wonderful weekend. Your Missouri Friend.

Oh my yes I recieved my tray from you and it is 2DIE for and is so adorable. I am enjoying looking at it until I have to give it away. I sure like the picture you have of yourself on your advar. I take lousy pictures. Yes I usually get on and then off of MMP in the mornings. I like to say hello and see what everyones up to and then start my day. I had to limit myself because some days I was on there for 2 or more hours and wasn't getting things done. LOL
Did you get your blog gifts today ? It was suppose to arrive today. Have a wonderful weekend. Kath'

Hi Celeste, Hope your having a wonderful Sunday. We got back from church and breakfast and I thought I'd visit a few blogs before I get into a project. How pretty your setting is and your pool looks so refreshing. I bet Miss Beazy is in her glory! My furbabies would love it. They run up and down our little mountain waterfall and splash like crazy. LOL. What a great idea to use a quilt to cover a chair pad. I'll have to try that because I've been looking for a new chase pad and have not liked the colors they come in.
Great job on your hubbies part too!
Have a wonderful day.

What a wonderful spot to enjoy those lazy days of summer! I'd love to have a pool, but the flower beds won out! I still hope to purchase a gazebo as soon as I redo my fence, some neighbor kids think everyones property is fair play for them, geesh!! happy week ahead! Lori

A very pretty spot to enjoy lazy summer days for sure ... just wish we all had the time to do so!
It's been cold, grey and damp here in Oz so it was a pleasant change to come visit you for awhile and soak up some sunshine.

Hi dear friend! I enlarged each and every pic to let all the beauty soak in! Your backyard and patio/pool area is truly a heavenly oasis! So great to see Miss B swimming around, too. Love how you covered the seating area with such lovely fabrics. Great job on the pillows, too. You know how I love toile and bling! Your grandmother's crocheted lace is beautiful and I love how you incorporated that into such a romantic pillow.

Thanks for letting me know that R is improving. An answer to prayers for sure. Will talk to you in a few days!

Love,

Hi Celestina Marie,

I love your beautiful home and it all looks so comfortable. The chairs and cushions are wonderful. The handmade lace is special that your Grandmother had made, gorgeous. My Dad's older Sisters and a brother made lace too.
My!... that is very hot where you are, and you would need to take a dip in the pool to cool down.
Enjoy your summer and the week.
Hugs
Carolyn
