First, I purchased a few stain glassed designs to get my pattern created and faux leading to tie the design together. Next, I worked with my pieces to come up with a pleasing and balanced design before beginning. Once the design layout was finished I began to add the elements to the mirror. This is when you find out that nothing is straight on a furniture piece. LOL So with a little tweaking here and there, I finally got everything to line up and even. The colors reflect those around the room. The good news is, these faux stained glass designs can be removed later is colors or tastes change. I am happy the way it all turned out and after displaying a little Autumn decor, the stained glass was just what this vintage hutch needed.
What do you think? This was a lot of fun to create. I have worked with gallery glass before and find it very rewarding for an instant stained glass effect. It is a procedure that also works well on old vintage windows, wall mirrors, side lights around entry doors and glass vases and trays.

STRIKING!! My hubs uncle used to put in stained glassed windows in churches in the one of the oldest towns here. I remember we took a trip down to see his work and was absolutely in awe of his work especially in churches. I love the feeling it gives off... don't you think glass breathes?... I do. The faux stained glass is beautiful and suits the hutch perfectly. Looks very Art Nouveau to me.
It looks great. I used gallery glass in our home when we first moved in on several of our windows. When we had new windows installed the contractor wanted to know what to do with the stain glass windows. I just took the gallery glass off the old windows and he laughed. He thought they were real stain glass windows.

Looks great! Makes the cabinet look "finished". I thought the Gallery Glass would be hard to work with. What I like about it is it gives the cabinet a change without making it permanent.
Oh Celeste, your stained glass is so beautiful! I honestly don't know how you do all of these wonderful things, I would not have a clue where to start... it looks so pretty with all of your Autumn things displayed there as well... Hi Celeste :) Wow! You did an amazine job with that mirror; I've used that Gallery Glass several years ago on a window we used to have here in our kitchen, that separated it from the laundry/mudd room. That stuff is great!!

I've been doing that too - moving wall art around, putting some away (always feel sad to hide some things away - but there just isn't room for it all!). It's fun! Refreshing!

The perfect touch for your hutch!! I've only done the stained glass technique on a wine bottle for Chris but really had fun working on it. The transformation of your furniture piece is incredible... you've got to love how it lightens up the room. Everything you touch turns to gold sweetie!!!
