Have you been baking for Christmas?
Do you make Christmas cookies a tradition in your family for home and gifts?
I love to bake for Christmas and I try and make an assortment of cookies and candies for a variety on the cookie tray.
However, each year, finding enough time for all this fun, is limited.
I will get it all done in good time,
but I found a little short cut for a gift idea
and
I thought I would share it with you today.
I am calling my quick, easy and tasty snack mix, "Merry Mix"
often known as Monster Mix in grocery stores and very expensive,
plus,
loaded with additives to preserve it's shelf life.
So to start with you will need,
a box of raisins,
jar of unsalted peanuts,
almonds,
an average size bag of butterscotch morsels,
milk chocolate chips
and
red and green M&M's.
You can adjust this depending on what you like.
Enjoy cashews, add them in.
But remember to try and keep the ingredients compatible and those that go together.
I might also say, this can also be made in Spring by using pastel M&M's.
In a large bowl, mix all the ingredients and stir to blend.
Next you can fill jars for gift giving or cookie tins. I used glass jars which show the red and green Christmas colors. I found these at the craft shoppes this year for 50% off making these nice jars perfect for this project.
Now as the jars are filled, you can add gift tags and bows around the lids or even an ornament.
Tags made from vintage graphics add a nice touch.
Add some pretty red and gold ribbon tied in a bow.
Finished and ready to give to family and friends,
this mix is so yummy and looks festive in a candy dish.
I hope you will try it or make your own combination of this idea for Merry Mix.
It's fast, quick, easy and perfect to make when you are busy,
but still need a little homemade treat to give.
It won't last long either!
Have a wonderful December day
and
enjoy the Christmas season to the fullest.
I'll be back again soon to share my holiday decor.
Merry Christmas!

Hugs,

I LOVE this idea..I will have to come back later and get the recipe to do this for gifts also. I mentioned you on my post today..((hugs))I love love love your blog design, just beautiful
Celeste, have you seen all the books with ingredients for gifts in a jar? They're wonderful for busy times like this!
My Holly made us a chocolate almond bark for Thanksgiving with fresh cranberries that was delicious. I made my own version the other day with chocolate chips (melted) sliced almonds and Craisins. Mine turned out "chewy" where hers was crunchy depending on the fresh crans and the larger almond pieces she used.
It was fun to melt and mix and so quick and easy. It's the thought that counts, isn't it.
Hugs!

Celeste, I want to tell you how much I have enjoyed visiting your blog. I love the home tour of your Christmas decorations and I also read about your parents home and your studio. I am truly blessed each time I visit your blog. I will definitely make this merry mix to give as gifts. I may not always have time to comment but I will visit often. I wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas.
Oh so yummy looking! And a great gift. I remember getting some of this when I started my current job. It was such a nice surprise. Have a great week! Kit
Dearest Celestina Marie,
Wow, not only do you give 20% off for your shop, but you give such a tremendous BONUS for sharing this great gift idea. Healthier, more personal looking and cost + TIME saving...
Lots of love,

This sounds so good. I know it's been awhile but I just wanted to stop by and say Merry Christmas! I have your beautiful hand painted mittens and santas on display again this year! I think of you everytime I see them. :-)
The Merry Mix sounds delicious and looks so pretty! I like that idea.
I LOVE baking Christmas cookies, but again, this year, outside of Tom and I...and maybe sending a few to my son in Wisconsin, there will be no one else to eat them. But, I will still bake some. I plan to try several new ones and make a couple old and familiar ones, too. Christmas is the only time of the year that I'll eat a cookie (or ten)!! LOL!!
Oh goodness....I can just about taste it...M&Ms...oh, it looks sooo good!!
This is a great idea and seems simple enough for even me to do. lol
I love eating mixes like this and the colors are so cute when all put together.
Would a store like Michaels have the jars?
Can't wait to see more pics of your house.
Hugs to you!
What a great gift idea! I have my stocking up in my bedroom...that you made! I'm enjoying seeing it every day! Hugs! ♥
Hi Celeste... your Merry Mix looks so yummy, and oh so pretty in the jars with ribbons and tags! I love to give, or get gifts like this... made with lots of love... and you are right, no icky preservatives or additives to them... it's a tradition at my house to always bake, so course I will! But your little mix of goodies sounds like fun too, and how cute you named it "Merry Mix"... wish I had some right now!... love to you... xoxo Julie Marie

Celeste, I just saw your recipe over at my bloggy friend's page, Linda from Random Creativity. I ran over to get a close look because this is perfect for a dinner we've been invited to tonight. I had no idea what to bring because I have not had time to do anything this Christmas since we've been moving to a new house. We just had cable/internet connected yesterday and I'm barely catching up with my bloggy neighbors. Thank you for sharing this. I have just the right jar and ribbon for this and all I have to do is make a quick trip to the grocery store. LOVE IT.
By the way, I have not forgotten your tags, my friend. They've been packaged and ready to go, but I have not been able to make it to the post office. Hope to do so today.
Wishing you and your loved ones a very Merry Christmas.
XOXO's,
Marcia
