S is for Santa!

Santa's have long been a favorite of mine to collect and display at Christmas. These darling fellows, with their detailed clothing and gorgeous faces add so much charm to my home.
I can still remember the first Santa I found when antiquing with a dear friend. There were two Santa's standing together and we each purchased one. Came home and redesigned them with elements we had on hand. That was 15 years ago and I still have that fellow and he reminds me of the sweet time my friend and I had shopping when we found our Santa's.

It seems each one has a little story of how they came to live with me. Every Christmas I look forward to bringing them out from their year long sleep, each and every Santa to take their display spot for the season.
Here are a few to meet you.

I added a vintage rose to these wood skates.

Look at this gorgeous stitch work rose on his coat.

And a few more hand painted over the years from studies in books of my favorite art lessons.

And my newest Santa painted with a pink velvet coat on a vintage platter from the late 40's early 50's. These white plates were found in soap boxes and collected by women everywhere. They are highly collectible now and I have found several recently. This platter belonged to my Grandma. I have long since retired it from serving, so painting Santa on her from a lesson with a favorite artist was so much fun. The design I painted is from Reflections from Pumpkin Ridge.

Thank you for stopping by and spending some time with me today. I always love your visits and comments. Till next time,

Merry Christmas!
Celestina Marie
