This week, for my first Tea Time Tuesday, I shared Cherry Dream Squares with all of you for tea. Some of you asked for the recipe, so here it is.
I hope you enjoy this very quick and very yummy dessert with your family and friends.
CHERRY DREAM SQUARES
1 package white cake mix (yellow would work too)
1 1/4 cups oats
1/2 cup soft margarine and 6 tablespoons margarine
1 egg
21oz. can cherry pie filling
1/2 cup chopped nuts (I use pecans or almonds)
1/2 cup brown sugar
Heat oven to 350 degrees
Grease or Pam spray 13 X 9 inch pan
In average size bowl, combine cake mix, 6 tablespoons margarine, 1 cup oats and mix until crumbly.
Reserve 1 cup of the crumbs for the topping later.
To remaining crumb mixture add 1 egg, mix well and press in the bottom of the pan.
Pour the cherry pie filling evenly over the crust.
Let sit while you add 1/4 cup oats,1/2 cup margarine, nuts and brown sugar to the reserved crumbs.
Beat all to mix and sprinkle over the cherry layer. This layer will be on the wet side and not dry. It will all blend together while baking, but layer as evenly as possible.
Bake at 350 degrees for 30-40 minutes or until brown.
Cool and cut into squares the size of your choice. Can also be served warm later after set by warming in the microwave and served with whipped topping or scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Refrigerate covered after serving to keep nice and set.
So delish~~ ENJOY!
Let me know if you bake this easy and quick dessert.
Have a great day.
Smiles, Celestina Marie

Thanks Celeste!
I so envy you with your cherry goodness. I have not been able to eat cherries for a couple of years now due to heartburn issues but do I cherish looking at this loaded goodness. Yummy, with a cup of hot tea this would just have to be on the last meal list, no? Hugs to you. Tammy
This sounds great and perfect for this time of the year. I will have to make it for my family. Thanks for sharing.
Dearest Celestina Marie,
Too bad that I'm a diabetic II so having to cut back on sugar makes you stay away from all these yummy desserts! Looks so delicious.
Lots of love,
Mariette
