We just love a refreshing summer salad on these hot Texas days and this one is a favorite I have been making a long time even before I found it in a Kraft Recipe Book called, Make It Simple Recipe Collection.
Inside is filled with fast and quick recipes using ingredients found on most pantry shelves. Some are light menus using low fat or sugar free and others you can make substitutes to cut back on calories. Something we all do right??
Anyway here is a delicious summer recipe for
Pear and Walnut Salad
Salad Greens cut up in torn pieces using romaine lettuce or other favorite greens
2 medium pears sliced lengthwise
1 cup seedless grapes, (I don't always add the grapes)
8 ounces Kraft Fat Free Ranch dressing
1/3 cup walnut halves toasted or not. (pecans can also be used, but I like the walnuts better)
Toss all in a large bowl, drizzle with the dressing, top with the walnuts, pecans and serve.
You can also add grilled chicken or salmon which is also very good for a more filling dinner.
For a different twist, I have sliced apples and used the pecans with the salad greens for a change of pace. It is very good too.
Hope you try this recipe. Let me know how you like it.
I'll be by to visit you when I return from Santa Fe.
Stay cool, Celestina Marie

Hi Celeste -
We love salads and this one looks yummy. I make one similar to this, but I put in some bleu cheese for a really great flavor!

WE enjoy fruit in any way, shape or form. So this salad sounds really great. Will have to try it.
Right now, I have peaches, bananas and a cantaloupe that I am trying to figure how to put them together in a salad or adding them to a dish.
Hope you are having a great vacation.
hugs, Eileen
Sounds delish Celeste!... hope you are enjoying Santa Fe... I miss it so, and my grandparents... such a beautiful place, no wonder their state slogan is "The Land of Enchantment"... xoxo Julie Marie

Delicious salad and thank you for sharing. Safe Travels Dear...
Hi Celestina, Hope you are having fun in Santa Fe on vacation. Ours will be put on hold for a while and may not happen this year just to much going on. Your salad looks yummy and I think I will see if I can entice my other half to try it. It would be a nice change. A belated happy birthday to your son. Have a great day. Hugs Your Missouri Friend.
Hi Celestina,

Santa Fe- enjoy! We are heading there in October for a 'girls weekend.' I have never been and really look forward to it. You'll have to send me some recommendations. Hope that you have a nice, relaxing trip!

I will definitely try it Celeste - it looks amazing! We have had our own little heat wave here and summer salads are always on the menu - too hot to cook.

Celeste, What lovely ideas for summer eating. I love salads and especially love a salad dressing of Japanese rice vinegar and light olive oil, yummy! Take care, Maureen
