Some time the smallest of treasures make the perfect decor accents.
Such is the sweet vintage umbrella accent created with flowers,
a little chalk board tag and ribbon of burlap.
Oh I can't take credit for this design.
The talented Lynn from Shabby Story
came up with the idea.
I thought it was perfect for springtime, so when I found a vintage umbrella,
I had to try one as well.
The umbrella was already the perfect neutral color
with ruffles all around and strap still in place, perfect for hanging.
I was so excited to find it.
Hanging in the entry on my coat rack with
a welcome message.
It looks like an April showers accent
to greet my friends and family.

Another use for the chalk board labels
is on canning jars.
Here on my kitchen bar, I have a message to greet.
Hello!
Take a seat and welcome to my kitchen!

After
Wouldn't this idea be special for a visit to a sick friend?
Right the words Get Well on the label.

Happy Birthday!

I love canning jars.
From vintage umbrellas to old canning jars,
simply old treasures
show us
they still have joy to share with us.

Hi Celestina. Such a pretty way to greet your guests. Especially since none of us will be lucky to go through April without a little rain, I don't think. You always have such interesting and pretty projects to share..Happy Wednesday..Judy
Celestina, how pretty your umbrella is, such a cute idea. I love all of your ideas for the chalk board labels. I will be looking for those in my craft store. Have a wonderful day!
What a sweet idea! That would be perfect for inside my front door. I have a parasol I can use.
And I love canning jars, especially the blue ones! Another cute idea. Thanks for the inspiration, Celestina. Hope you have a magical day.
Hugs and blessings,
Sandi
I love these umbrella arrangements, Celeste! Yours turned out lovely. Something like that would be a perfect decoration here today with the rain. : ) It makes me think of "April showers bring May flowers".
I am always amazed at the many ideas the crafting community at large comes up with to reuse & repurpose items. I love the ease by which many of them can be made & on the cheap as well. This is a cute idea as any color any room can have one. Hugs. Tammy
Your umbrella hanging is so pretty! What a clever idea, and your execution is so nice. Aren't chalkboard labels the best?
Have a great day!

That is the cutest door hanger!!!
And I really love the bell mason jar with the little bitty chalk board - what a perfect hostess gift that would make - with the word " thanks "
on the chalkboard!!!

I love, love that umbrella! What a great way to use an old one. The chalk board label adds a wonderful touch to the canning jar vase.
Great find with the umbrella...ruffles!!! Perfect spring touch for your decor.

Such a lovely umbrella! I love mason jars! I have a collecion on my kitchen shelf that used to belong to my grandmother. Flowers are always a great idea for them. Just beautiful!
Well, I could reach in and put that gorgeous umbrella on my front door....!! I love that. I went looking yesterday for some of those rubber boots to put by my little fence....I came out of the store in shock. They are kinda pricey to sit in the sun!! I thought they would be good for April also!!
Yes ,dear, such a wonderful idea for someone you want to gift and spread joy for... all kind og messages could be there!
Also love the umbrella idea, and the one you found with the lovely edge, is perfect.

So cheery! You are so right about small treasures. Lynn is full of wonderful ideas. I enjoy her blog too! Such fun tags. Love them on the Mason jar.
Celestina, These are all such pretty and clever ideas. Where did you find a vintage umbrella? I had a vintage black silk parasol once, the fabric was so brittle it began to crumble as we tried to open it. It was found in an old trunk. I'm not sure how it should have been stored or why it crumbled. Joyous Wishes, Linda
I wanted to make a similar umberella, too. I got the idea from Kris at Junk Chic Cottage. I was thrilled when I FOUND the perfect umbrella, lying on the street! Now I need to go and get some flowers. You can't get a better price than FOUND. lol
This is beautiful, love the flowers tucked inside the folds! The mason jar is is gorgeous and a great idea too! ~Diane
Hello Celeste... I just love your pretty door umbrella and especially the PINK roses... I know so many of you ladies are doing whites and very neutrals, but I just can't leave my PINK!... hope you have a beautiful Spring weekend, xoxo Julie Marie
