Each day we took a great walk around
the grounds of the 46 acres
that make up The Prairie.
What a relaxing and peaceful
spot to enjoy
nature and the beauty of God's country.
Here are a few pics of the sights
as we walked around each day.
Love this rusted vintage truck called,
Prairie Art!
A Texas windmill is a beautiful sight!
A home for the birds~
The beauty of bare winter trees~
and some still holding theirs.
Wide open spaces~~
I'm right behind you honey, just taking a few pics!
At the entry is the U.S. Flag along with
the Union Jack.
A wonderful sight when moving in the wind.
No wind today, but still beautiful.
If you have RA's recent book
The Prairie,
you might remember this outhouse pictured.
This fellow below walked over to say hello~
***************
Each day we took a short drive into town.
Roundtop is just a few minutes away
from The Prairie and
home to 90 people.
Our first stop was at
The Junk Gypsy
a décor, fashion and whimsical
specialty and vintage boutique on the road to town.
Love the pink truck out front.
Inside is a variety of treasures. Could not get pics, but
it was fun!
Next was lunch
at the famous
"Royers Cafe"
this restaurant was featured
on
CBS Sunday Morning
I came back later to take this pic when closed
so the cars were out of the way!
It was so fun!
Now for a little more shopping
around the square
which is
the downtown of Roundtop.
Our first stop was this darling church
with a beautiful rose garden to the side yard.
Taking a little break to stop and smell the roses!
All around the square where darling shops
with the most unique treasures.
Many had huge after Christmas sales.
As you might imagine, I had a great time!!
Each shop had entered in a contest for the best display.
The shop above was a real estate office and closed,
but their porch display was grand.
***********
Henkel Hall is a large open
area building
perfect for weddings and large events.
This was Second Market,
a vintage upscale antique shop.
All the buildings are old vintage buildings
each with a different shop inside.
This one below was empty.
hummm
Could I have a shop here????
View across the square
as we walked from shop to shop.
Strolling the square
is like walking in an old vintage neighborhood.
Below is a branch of the famous
Royers in a Pie Haven.
This building was a wonderful dress shop
called
It Fits!
Love the dress form on the sign!
**********
Doesn't the downtown look
like a place from an old western movie?
Well, this is Texas Y'all
and we are western!!
A square on the square with, wait~~
even more shops to visit!!!
Am I tired yet??
Who me??
No Way.
I'm just getting started. LOL
*****
After a full day of fun,
it was time to head back to
The Cornflower for another night
at The Prairie.
After an amazing visit, it was time to return home
to North Texas.
Time to say goodbye
to The Prairie.
As we head down the long road
that lead to The Prairie
We take one last look back at
Liliput Lodge
to say goodbye
to a special time of making memories.
The sign on Liliput reads,
HOME ON THE RANGE
Till next time,
Thank you for staying with me
as I shared these last three long posts
of our trip to~
The Prairie, by Rachel Ashwell and The Shabby Chic Couture
Wishing you a wonderful winter day.

What a great place for a get-a-way Celeste! Thanks so much for taking us with you. I love to venture to different places through someone elses eyes. I'm so happy you had a good time. The both of you look fabulous and like you had a good time. It's so special when we can have an adventure with our loved one!
Have a great weekend! Love you, Edie
So many beautiful houses and buildings, I love all those old wooden ones, we have some here, too, but mostly we built and also did before, alwayes in stone ,because of the cold winterweather.
I would have loved turing with you, to all those wonderful shops, and the lovely country area.
Wishing a happy weekend, dear Celestina Marie-
Hugs,Dorthe
I think we all could live here!!!
And yes Celeste...I can see you in that gorgeous little shop.
I love all three of these post, but now I think I love this one the most. The old red truck reminds me of all the redneck back yards that I see here in...well no names...LOL.
That bird house is to die for. I love, love...the picture of Larry looking into the outhouse. Even from the side view of his face....that look...I'm still laughing. The wonder on his face is priceless...LOL. I would give anything for a close up, of that look...LOL.
all your pictures came out so wonderful and I know you and Larry will cherish this trip always.
May God Bless you both,
XXOO Marie Antoinette

Sounds and looks like an amazing trip! Love the pictures!
What a great trip,Celestina! Thank you for taking us along with you! I would have had a great time in all of those neat looking shops! I think my favorite shot is of that cute little church, and their pretty roses! What a treat it must have been to see roses in bloom in December! Love the photos of you and hubby, too! I'm glad you had such a nice and relaxing trip!!
I enjoyed every moment of your trip. What a treat! Thanks so much for sharing it with us.
Oh Celeste, that was soooo fun, I could have shopped until I dropped, can't believe it is not always open? The little town is adorable. I think the junk gypsies had a TV show last year, I have heard a lot about them! Thanks for taking us along...I relaxed just reading it!

Celestina, Your trip made me feel as though I was a stow away in your car. The wide open spaces where you aren't crowded with all of the hustle and bustle. It looked so relaxing and the buildings were awesome. I would have loved to see the inside of the church, Thank you for sharing. Take care. Hugs and Prayers from Your Missouri Friend.
What an amazing trip you took. I remember there was some shops that I went in with my friend when she lived down there.
Thanks for sharing you trip with us.
hugs, Cindy
Such a delightful trip you experienced. I am amazed at all the shops for such a small population of about 90 for RoundTop. I hope you had lots of room in your vehicle for all of your purchases. I'm just sayin...
Thanks for sharing your blissful stay at "The Prairie".
Oh my goodness, I have never been to Texas and that sky is amazing! And oh yes, you can have a shop there! 8+)
wspaniała podróż, widać , ze bawiliście się świetnie :) pozdrawiam gorąco :)
You captured everything so beautifully Celeste. What a gorgeous place to visit & enjoy all the beauty. Like 'T', I am dying to go to the Round Top festival. We'll get there ... one way or another & hopefully get to see you, also.
TTFN ~
Big hugs,

What fun! Your photos are amazing and I can tell that you enjoyed everything about your stay. Thanks for sharing!
Wow Celeste thanks for sharing all of your wonderful photos of the Prairie.
I do have a couple of Rachel Ashwell's books but seeing the actual timber buildings, the wide open spaces, the cattle etc. reminds me so much of outback Australia.
I really relate to these images.
Just great!
Have a lovely Sunday!
Suzy

I've enjoyed your tour so much, Celeste. It literally transported me. I especially liked the church here, and taking the time to smell the roses. How lovely it would be to have an intimate wedding there.
Thank you again for taking us along.

Celestina,
Oh, I loved these pictures of the Prairie. This post was special to me, as nature is a big part of me. The view is so lovely here. The church grounds with the roses caught my eye and is so pretty. I loved the pink 'JUNK GYPSY' truck. Sometimes I think I'm a bit of a gypsy myself haha. Thank you for the tour, Celeste. I'm off to see Part 1 and Part 2.
Love,
~Sheri
So much of our destination shopping here in the Chicagoland area has died over the last 10 years. Independents(I was one) fell to the wayside during the recession. We do have great thrift shops, but gorgeous staged themed shopping, just no longer exists. I was planning on trying a new set of shops located in an industrial park today, but the weather is abysmal, so maybe tomorrow.
Thanks so much for steering me here, so enjoyed and I so miss this sort of shopping experience. Sandi
Celeste I'm having a hard time knowing where to begin my comment; this was SUCH a joyful ride! : )

I sooo enjoyed taking this tour through your photos, Celeste! This looks like such a fun place to visit, and I loved seeing everything little stop along the way. I would love to visit one day.
