When I had my booth in an antique mall several years ago,
I came across this awesome Ethan Allen
TV cabinet for our master bedroom.
This piece was a great price and in excellent like new condition.
With it's original dark walnut wood this piece was a gorgeous find with plenty of
storage space in the drawers and drop down desk.
I knew I would paint it at some point when doing our master bed and bath update.
Original cabinet.
I hand painted and distressed the cabinet with a flat water based paint that I find very similar to a chalk paint.
The color is pecan sandie, the same paint I used in my laundry makeover.
This cabinet seemed to come alive with it's brighter finish.
The TV doors are lined with a mesh metal covering.
These can be covered with fabric and I have done that
at one time too.
I left the crown original and you when I share the rest tomorrow.
Now to the drop down desk, where you see my initials,
I decided to add a graphic here.
Using a Tracer Projector,
I picked a graphic from the Graphics Fairy
and centered it in place using the projector.
With the lights in the room off or very low,
the design will show up on your project to be decorated.
Here's the projection
enlarged to the size I want
by setting the Tracer at a distance to achieve that size.
At this point I lightly trace over the design with a pencil.
Once the design is complete, I hand paint the design with black acrylic paint or you can you a sharpie pen. I enjoy both but for this one I painted.
Here is the completed painting.
With the cabinet open for TV viewing.

I also painted the sky a few years ago.
This runs the length of the room over into the bath.
So nice to wake to blue skies!
The before and after Ethan Allen cabinet
with the help of a little paint and French label.
For the Tracer Projector,
I purchased mine at Hobby Lobby.
This one was about 29.99 regular price and I used my 40% off coupon.
It takes a 75 watt light bulb, not included .
With some practice and experimenting with positioning,
you can trace nearly anything.
The master bath has a new update with granite
and painted cabinets.
See you Wednesday with the rest of the update.
Happy Creating.

That cabinet turned out wonderful! I love your blue sky ceiling too.
I love what you did with it. It looks so pretty.
Wow, you are so talented! I love how you made over the cabinet. The painted blue skies is a brilliant idea.
Another fantastic makeover, it looks elegant and homely at the same time, love it! Hugs, Valerie
What a gorgeous cabinet, Celestina! I've never heard of that projector, what a great idea to use it to add the French graphic! It turned out beautifully, and I love how you left the top portion dark. Love your blue sky, too! Have a great day:)
Triple WOW! What a transformation Celeste! You did an incredible job on this cabinet. It fits into your new decor perfectly. The gadget you used is very cool. I've never seen one before & would sure be a great investment. Especially at that price! (HL is one of my most fav places to shop) I love that you share your secrets for creating such beauty! But that's the kind of gal you are.
Love & hugs, Edie
Ethan Allen...lovely! I started as an Interior Designer with Ethan Allen back in 1982...and fell in love with their furniture - couldn't afford it, but loved it!
Your cabinet looks better than ever after your painting job...and that hand-painted graphic adds the perfect pizzazz!
Hugs,
Jan

Hello Dear, This is so pretty! My parents loved Ethan Allen furniture, I still have a rocking chair. We did have it recovered, but the wood is so sturdy! I was wondering may I Pin to my boards your pictures?
Let me know!

The cabinet became wonderful when your hands touched on it. You have made a wonderful work!
Totally fabulous, love it.
I would have never thought to leave the crown as is. I like it like that!
Amazing what a trahsformation a little paint can do! Love that you left the top as it was, really adds to the piece. Love the transfer too! This was a nice looking piece, but now it is an awesome piece! Love the ceiling, how lovely! That must be a beautiful sight each morning!
Great update for that cabinet, Celeste! I love how it looks in the lighter color. I also love the image you added. Were you able to transfer the image while it was on paper or did you have to get it on a transparency? That's not a bad price for the projector either. Love this makeover!
I love the way it turned out. The graphics made the piece, I believe.
Celeste, wow your T.V cabinet turned out beautiful, I love the image you painted on your cabinet.....great transformation, I can't wait to see the rest of your make over ;-) you sure have been a busy pretty little bee...lol...
Hugs to you sweet friend~

Celeste it is gorgeous!!! I have used the Ez tracer and love it, of course only an artist could paint in the letters....The rest of us untalented people use the sharpies or paint pens!
PS great manicure!

Celestina, every time I think I don't like painted furniture, you mess with my mind...but in a good way! Your piece is very beautiful, well done!
Such a lovely transformation on this beautiful cabinet. The French stencil is just the right touch. I adore seeing your decor. Creative Decor Bliss...
Both of the cabinets are beautiful, but I like the transformation. Nice and fresh.
