Recently on a treasure hunt, I found the perfect little foot stool to team up with
this chair I painted and covered last year.
Do you remember when I found this chair?
It was dark wood and the cushions were covered in linen that had yellowed a bit over the years.
Comfy and perfect to cozy up with a good book.
But what really stole my heart, it was made and stamped on the bottom, 1926.
The year my mother was born.
I always love items created in the years loved ones were born.
1900, 1904, 1923 ,1926 and so on~
Anyway, it came home with me for a mere 20 dollars.
Sturdy, well built and the perfect size.
I painted the wood my beloved Honeysuckle Bloom
and covered the cushions with a pretty French inspired fabric.
At first, I had this little gem in my living room but since I am known for moving things around a lot,
it made it's way to my library for a reading chair.
Often when I would read here, I thought how nice a foot stool would be.
So there it was on my treasure hunt last weekend.
A sweet little stool with a storage place too, but with fabric from a different time and look.
It was already painted white, but I gave it a fresh coat to go with my chair.
I took off the lid top, painted the legs, added a little distress
and covered the lid with the same fabric left from the chair.
My trusty staple gun was used to upholster the fabric to the top.
Lastly, I added some fringe from my stash to the bottom frame
and it's complete.
Opens nicely to store a book, sewing or a few magazines.
I saved on the fabric by covering the inside top with black felt.
Love it with the chair~
Perfect little spot in my library to read, crochet,
watch TV or relax with a cup of tea.
And to think,
this little gem was 5 dollars.
I had the paint, fabric, fringe, felt, staple gun and time!
Have you found a great treasure lately?
One that fits right in with your idea?
Wishing you happy treasure hunting
and

Wow - what a transformation! You have talent to see the possibilities in such a treasure. It looks like you now have the ideal reading chair and footstool. Fill your tea cup with something to drink and you're all set!
Yes, I remember when you shared the chair and how it was found and what you did to make it so pretty. Now, the matching stool...with storage, too...what could be more precious than that? Beautiful Celeste - wonderful job. :)

What an adorable stool, Celestina! Well, adorable after you worked your magic on it, that is:) I love that fabric, and the fringe makes it fun. Even better that you had all of the materials on hang. The storage is a real bonus, too! I could use on of these for our motor home!!

Very, very beautiful! I imagine that you will enjoy sitting in your chair and using your footstool, while reading your favorite books and sipping tea. You have inspired me to create a nook area upstairs. Blessings and joy, Celestina~
Gorgeous! And that side table is fabulous!

Celeste! What a perfect pair! YES! And the secret stash compartment is perfect for books or magazines...I love what you do, you talented person, YOU! My treasures lately have been little nuggets of poems, old projects left unfinished, and enjoying my garden. Oh the fun we all have with whatever grabs our hearts! ENJOY!
So absolutely perfect with your chair! I love what you've done. The fringe is an especially nice touch. I am looking for a storage ottoman to put my feet up on. I wish you lived nearby; I would exchange homemade cookies or pie or something for your talent with a staple gun! And I love your new profile picture -- you're such a pretty lady, Celeste! Inside and out.
What a perfectly charming stool you have made, it looks perfect with its mate too! Love the added fringe trim and the fact that it opens up, what a bargain! ~Diane
What a cute set you now have! Love the fringe! I made one similar last year with a drawer, I too used black felt on the underside of the top! great minds! LOL I painted mine black, I think I like the white much better. But it sold so it doesn't matter.
Your little corner is so quaint. Love your table too. You've paired everything together so nicely. Hope you find time to sit and enjoy it ♥

Hi Celeste!!
What a little sweetie this stool is! Your makeover is perfect and looks fabulous with the great chair you make over. Such an adorable place to take a break! (And have a bit of leftover Crazy Aunt Sherry's Pasta Salad as a snack!! Mmmmm)
Have a great week sweet friend! Blessings & bliss, Edie
That is so cute and perfect with the chair! You won't believe this but unjust unearthed that same fabric while sorting! I bought it on a whim and didn't have a plan for it.
What a great price you got everything for! You are a good bargain hunter!

Celestina, what a sweet little foot stool and perfect for your chair. I will looking for a foot stool now to re-do. Great job!
What a nice little find that you've prettified, Celeste! : ) It goes great with your chair and I know just what you mean about wanting to put your feet up sometimes when reading.
You do find the very best pieces of furniture for the least amount of cash. Lovely re-do and now your chair is complete. Creative Upholstery Bliss...
I adore footstools, hassocks, ottomans and the like.I think it's because I'm so short and it lessens the back pain of having my feet dangle inches above the floor.
I'm not sure but I think your chair is a Cricket chair. My grandmother had one, now mine and she and I use it at the sewing table. Those little chairs are AAAdorable!
And, I think your footstool is a little sewing footstool, could be wrong there but I'm almost positive the chair is a Cricket chair.
One more thing...Celeste, were you talking about pitchers and jugs a while back? And I said there's an old name for them but couldn't remember? They're called Toby jugs; see more info here:
http://www.tobyjugmuseum.com/
My memory is slow but, generally, comes through! lol...
It's perfect for the chair...love it!!
hugs,
Cindy
Celestina, it is beautiful! Love, love the fabric. So pretty!
Oh Celeste, it's perfect! The detail you add to each creation is simply beautiful, dear friend.
Bless you as you continue to inspire so many people. Love and hugs!
Such a lovely reading corner you created. I love the fabric you used on both pieces.
How fortunate to find exactly what you needed! It's perfect with the chair and a great place to keep a book etc.
I have been blessed to find some very popular books for $2 and less lately. Stocking up for winter.
God bless you dear friend.
What a wonderful foot stool to go with your lovely chair - they are perfect together. Such a wonderful place to sit and read or just relax.
Have a wonderful weekend.
