This morning I looked out the bedroom window
and saw these two sweet visitors
grazing on some dropped birdseed
at my rock shell beach by the pool.
I quick grabbed my camera to catch a few shots of this pretty couple.
They didn't see me as I quietly viewed through the window.
Suddenly they realized I was there and off they went so quickly
I couldn't catch them flying off.
Such a sweet way to begin the day.

Doves are very shy birds. I have quite a few visit my feeding station and they are Kit Kat's favorite bird to watch because of their quirky little movements. Watching birds, especially this winter, is a favorite little hobby I enjoy.

What lovely photos of this sweet couple! Mourning doves have always been a favourite of mine; my grandmother used to say that when they called, they were singing a soul to heaven.
I see them here regularly and think their little heads are pretty. They often sit on the deck railing and stare at the house. I call them 747's because they look like a jumbo jet landing as compared to the little songbirds- lol! They like my bird bath to drink from when it's not frozen and they like black sunflower seeds from the feeders although millet is preferred. Mornings are more wonderful when blessed by our feathered friend visits aren't they!
I've recently seen them too hanging around our bird feeder. They're such beautiful birds.
Your post reminds me of all the mourning doves that used to flock to our bird feeders...that was BEFORE the building of our Courtyard. We no longer have bird feeders, because the courtyard takes up a good portion of our small lot. There were several occasions when I'd be sitting outside on our swing on the small patio (before courtyard) and I'd have mourning doves that would walk within 2-3 feet of me and look at me and some stood there for several minutes!

That is a super bird feed area you have there. Interesting! I can only capture doves from a distance..I am too noisy, I guess!

Your mourning doves are so pretty, Celestina! I wonder if they are nesting around your yard? We enjoy watching them in our backyard too. The love to dine beneath the bird feeders, and get a drink of water at the bird bath. They are such sweet birds, I think!
Hi Celeste! Oh, what sweet little mourning doves. They look like they're having a great time in your rocks. We had so many of these birds in Galveston and our back yard was filled with them. We woke up each day to coo coo! I have to admit, I do miss that sweet sound. Hope you're having a nice week.

Good capture, usually doves are very sensitive, difficult to get close.

Mourning Doves are lovely! I had one at my feeder the other day. They're one of my favorite birds to watch. I love the way they waddle. What great photos!

Awwww so sweet! I love mourning doves. There were 2 of them hanging around underneath the bird feeders yesterday. Every summer I expect a female to nest in one of my hanging baskets. That's ok though. :)

Good Morning Celestina,
How lovely to wake up to the sweet sounds of those doves. Spring is in the air.
We have a very large, huge actually, pine tree in our front yard next to the creek where I feed the birds as well as the many wild Turkeys every morning, and it is a most wonderful delightful way to begin my day.
We counted 30 Turkeys the other day! Soon they will be nesting and we will not see them as much but they sure bring me delight during the winter months.

I love mourning doves! They are often in my yard and I love waking up to their sweet song. We had an injured dove in our backyard one night. My 106 pound newfie found it, took me to it and was as gentle as a lamb with that little bird. We kept it over night and took it to a wildlife rescue hospital the next morning. They nursed it back to health and released it! Your photos are so nice!
