Good Fences this week.
Are the days of summer flying by for you?
They seem to be for me.
We hit triple digit temps this week.
And, I'm already working on the Fall and Christmas goodies to fill the shelves of my shop.
Yes, it's that time to begin but It's hard to get motivated when the temps are 100 degrees.
However traveling out on a little fencing hunt,
I found another stick fence near an old barn in the Hill Country.
They really look interesting
and I imagine could be hard to build.
How about gathering the sticks to build such a fence.
Where do you get all those pieces that look so much alike?
Never seen these at Home Depot, have you?!!
And what holds them together?
Wire or maybe more sticks for the cross members?
Now I'd call this a rustic fence.
More then I would enjoy around my yard, but interesting to see just the same.

That is one truly rustic fence, I'm guessing Home Depot hasn't anything that comes close!

that one's very tightly put together. most of the time i see 'coyote fences' with a little spacing between the limbs. very cool. :)

I love the fence! It reminds me of home~ I'm also working on new Christmas items to fill my shop, but it is very slow-going. It hasn't yet hit 100, here, in Denver, and I am so thankful. We don't have the same amount of humidity as your neck of the woods, so we just "fry" and "burn." Love and joy, my friend!
Well making that fence kept someone out of mischief!

Here in Deep East Texas those are called goat fences. In Arizona they were known as coyote fences (and I see Tex called it a coyote fence). Why they're called goat fences I'm not sure but coyote fences in the West were built to deter coyotes from coming on one's property. The uneven top made it difficult for them to get over. Perhaps that's the same reason they're called goat fences!
Lovely photos but the thought of bending down to pick up that many sticks makes me sore!!!!!
I am sure it is stronger than it looks. Someone spend a lot of time on this. Hill country is a very special place with lots of interesting sights.
TRIPLE DIGITS? OH dearest, stay hydrated! We are having gloomy skies today...I think this means KABOOM from up on high! My internet was out due to some storms in Western MN....
I LOVE THIS FENCE! We saw some similar in Carmel and I asked my husband to make me a small one to hide the neighbor's chainlink fence. Some day he'll get to it! Have a calm and refreshing day, Anita
Quite rustic, in deed. I have to love it just because of all the work that had to of gone into such a fence.
In the right setting that would be a beautiful fence.

Those stick fences are some of the most unusual ones I have seen. It looks like too much work for me!!

Wow, what an unusual fence, it does look like a bit of work to build, they probably have a trick to doing it. It was 45 degrees at 5:30 this morning here in Michigan, lol! Try not to melt there. ~Diane

That is very cool, like you said I don't know that I would want it for my yard but it looks neat, I can't imagine how long that would take. Yes we have had heat index's in the 100's here, a little too hot for me, but yes summer seems to be flying by so fast

What a neat rustic fence, Celestina! Hope you are staying cool in and around the pool. I imagine in those hot temps, the water gets too warm to be refreshing!
Wow that would be intense to build! I can see where it would deter some animals with the uneven top. Can't say I've ever seen any of these fences before!
You sure would have to gather a lot of sticks as I don't think you can get them at Lowe's or Home Depot. Rather interesting fence and goes well with the farm.

This is a really unique fence. I bet it would take a lot of work to put it together but the result is well worth the effort. I enjoyed your photos of this great fence find.
Very interesting sticks! I like unique and different things. I may not have it in my yard, but it's fun to look at. Christmas, huh? Well, it is the most wonderful time of the year...no matter what time of the year you decide to embrace it. Stay cool!

I bet that fence took a lot of hard work.
I love this stick fence with the rustic old barn! This must have taken a lot of work and time to build. Very creative and it reminds me of old witches broomsticks. High on Life July...

I love this practical, rustic fence and admire the work that must have gone into its creation. And it makes great photos!
Celeste, that reminds me of a wattle fence; are you familiar with those? I think wattle fences are vertical and not horizontal. It's beautiful.
Oh this is an absolutely gorgeous fence...I just love rustic fences... We have something similar around our vegetable garden to keep the pesky chickens out!
