The Case of the Neutrals

Yes, I have a case of the neutrals to share with your today.
No, it's not a virus, but you can catch it and I know many of you have.

I love shades of ivory, white and light beige together.
I call this the neutrals.
Even some light grey is pretty too.
Then adding a pop of color for the season
is the perfect touch when using this color combo as your home decor theme.

Today I used my love of the neutrals
to design this vintage suitcase I found
on a junkin trip.

It's the sweetest size and perfect to hold magazines, special treasures and more.
It could also be an overnight case or the perfect brides keepsake case.

To both sides, I stenciled this French label design in an upright position for standing.

The background is hand painted in Lace Chalk Paint by DecoArt
and the white stitched edging is Everlasting CP, also by DecoArt.

The stencil is hand painted in a sienna color acrylic paint.

I painted light beige stripes all around the sides and dry brushed white to soften the look.

It didn't come with a key but in very good condition as you can see above,
I added lace and tulle  along with a chalkboard tag.

To the interior, I added neutral papers in a collage design and sealed in place with modpodge.
White satin trim finishes off the bottom and lid.

For a little accent, I added this French lady graphic card and layered flower.

Here's a better look at the trim.

Bottom has pretty stitching hand painted in white which stands out against  the ivory background.

Lastly, I added a coordinating journal  and pen in the neutral shades
with the same trim and layered flower.

This vintage case was so much fun to design.

It will be arriving in my etsy shop sometime today.

Do you, or have you ever had, the case of the neutrals?

Be Blessed  with a great day!

I love that! It would certainly work in MY world - I live in a neutral universe, always have.

I have teensy bits of color in some areas of the house but pretty much white, beige, ivory, brown, black, grey, green............mostly beige.

You will see what I mean if you looked up old home tours of our home. Which reminds me I haven't done one in a long time and am due. : - )

Have a fabulous week, and keep up the good work crafting gorgeous things for your shop! Hugs!

Celeste,
I'm into neutrals and heavy on textures with an occasional POP of color and our exposed brick walls gives such warmth, Love your sweet suitcase embellishments and the burnt Siena adds a dimension to it. Enjoy your week, I'm working on a major project in the laundry room.
xoxo,
Vera

It's gorgeous, Celestina! I love how you lined the inside, and even created a pretty matching notebook, too! I never would have thought to stencil a suitcase, it is perfect for the lid. And the stripes are a fun addition, too. I can see this used at a wedding to hold cards. So many great ways that it could be used! I love all shades of cream, white and everything in between:)

Oh yes! I sure do have a case of the neutrals in decor and fashion! I purchased a royal blue & white blouse with royal blue tank top to coordinate with it because my son said I could not by anything neutral and it was so outside my comfort zone. I was glad I did it when I wore it for the first time. I received many compliments on it... people were probably in shock! lol

Your suitcase makeover is outstanding Celeste!! I love every element of it. I have a little train case that has been waiting for a re-do and your suitcase is an amazing example and so inspiring. You always make things look so professional in a lovely, classy, soft way. Okay, I just love everything you do! :)

Thank you so much for coming by to see our Eiffel Tower post. It was so fun taking Marie with us. Sure wish it could have been in person but we understand why she couldn't.

Have a great week! Lots of love & hugs, Edie

You are such a creative soul, Celeste...this is just lovely and the journal is a sweet touch!

I'm a neutral person, too. Bright colors are fine in certain places---like my patio. Soothing colors indoors make me feel relaxed and I love the ability it gives me to add special pieces here and there without having to stick to a specific color scheme.

I hope you have a lot of offers on the case!

I have another blogger friend who is very much "into" neutrals. The one neutral I love is grey, but I am mostly a COLOR gal! :-) But, each scheme has its own beauty. And if we weren't all different they wouldn't need "different brands of chewing gum"...as the old saying goes. :-)
