One of my favorite lamps had
seen better days
and no longer worked.
and no longer worked.
I didn't want to just throw it out
or try and repair it.
So I decided to take it all apart
and recreate a piece in it's memory.
With the help of my better half,
who can transform most anything for me,
we dismantled the lamp
and used the base and middle section
to create a pedestal.
The Base
The Center
Turning the center upside down,
we bolted and glued the two sections together.
The center piece is where it's bolted and shaped like a bowl,
but I had a round metal tray that fit the space perfectly.
Adding the tray to the top, it now has a surface for display
or a bowl shape to fill with small ornaments.
I didn't glue the tray in place
so it can be removed when needed.
Next, I painted everything in Old White Chalk Paint.
Added lots of distress all around
for cottage charm.
I love how it turned out
and have many uses for this old lamp.
Like a pedestal for this tall skinny glitter tree.
Or my favorite, using this cloche that fit perfectly.
Love this musical candle for a centerpiece.
Sweet spot for a tea pot.
Pretty English Plate for serving.
Or a perfect fit for a white pumpkin.
Love how it works with this candle too.
And another favorite
displaying my mother's
vintage Cardinal musical figurine.
That's it,
recreating with old lamp parts,
a few bolts to attach, glue
and a little paint.
Can't wait to decorate with it at Christmas!
Thanks for stopping by.

Celeste,
i am jumping up and down with joy over this post of yours! I love what you have done. My son used to incorporate lamp parts in many of his architectural furniture pieces. So sweet Celeste this posting for me was a stroll down memory lane with a warm feeling in my heart. Matter of fact I have a table in my French inspired guest room that the base was made from a large brass lamp mounted onto a wooden base and a round top cut. When I was redesigning the guest room Chris said to me "I see where your design in here is going Mom, I have the perfect piece of salvage I just made, it's yours all you have to do to paint it." Well that piece, a table serves our guests as a nightstand and gets more compliments than you can imagine. I love your recreation!
Keep creating beauty!
xoxo,
Vera

Celeste, thank you so much for stopping by and leaving such a sweet comment on my re-entry into blogging. I've missed blogging, but I really needed the time away.
I love what you did with your lamp! It's beautiful! While some (like myself) would have sent a no-longer-wanted item to the thrift store, you transformed it into something even lovelier than before. I wish I had the ability to do creative things like you do.
Love and hugs,
Patti

I would have never guessed that was a lamp. Pure genius. In fact I am now on the hunt for intricate lamps. You truly have inspired me! Cheers and have a wonderful weekend my friend.
That is just so creative of you and love that you didn't glue down the plate to it so you can change it up any time you want and such beautiful ways you have found already to decorate with it, I love them all, you two work together great as a team!!
Such a pretty and clever pedestal. The many looks are wonderful, endless possibilities. Love your creative mind. xo
I have a pedestal that I am not using and you just gave me so many ideas for using it. I can't wait to start decorating for Christmas in 10 days and that pedestal will be one of the first pieces set out.
It's a very clever use of an old lamp with beautiful results. It looks like it could even be a cupcake stand. xoxo Su
What a wonderfully clever idea. I'll never look at a lamp as just a lamp again!
Oh you are so smart! I just had to Pin this. :)

Hi dear celestina ,, que encanto de candelabro ,, de blsnco se ve mucho más luminoso y shabby
OHHH I want one, too, lol- it has become a most wonderful pedestal, Celestina Marie, so very beautiful, for all purposes, and a wonderful idea. I love what you did, with your old lamp!!
Also I am saddened by the violent and hateful attacks in Paris, and share the
prayers for those whom been effected, also in The Russian fly and all over the world, as it seems so many ,many countries are being hit from these terrorists!!
Hugs to you, wishes and hopes.

I have been in here snooping around. I do love this old lamp's new life. You did good with this one! I love all the things you have placed with it. If you ever get tired of it (which I know you won't), just toss it my way.
I have missed your blog, been so crazy here and my life is normally boring. The kitchen is coming along, but only working on it every other weekend, it seems. I thought when harvest was over, it would go fast. I was wrong.
Have a great weekend and if I don't get back in here before next week, Happy Thanksgiving!
