Christmas in the Dining Room

Setting the Holiday in the Dining Room.

Each year this room changes a bit.
I don't always decorate it the same.
That's what makes our decor fun, don't you thing?

In the window facing the front of the house,
I add a tall skinny tree to give more room getting around the table.

To this tree I have all vintage ornaments from the 40's
or WWII ornaments.
Filled in with vintage snowflakes and large red roses.

The walls here are a lighter color of creamy tan then what is showing.
It's just hard to photograph this space with the light from the windows.
The trim is off white.

This area is looking from the entry and into the kitchen.

I tied red ribbon with greens, holly, berries and  pine cones
to the back of each chair.

The table is set with a mix of dishes in different styles.

The hutch is topped with garland among my white roosters and one red.

Christmas dishes.

Inside the hutch filled with seasonal dishes.

I change these around depending what time of year it is.

My grandmother's tea set from Italy.
I've shared a story about this
 HERE
She also gave me the little Christmas mouse
taking a nap after eating some of the apple covered in snow.
I simply love this treasure.

To the side of the hutch I have a chair that also changes with the season
just by adding large pillow shams.
Just tuck and fit and you have a new chair.

From the chair this would be the view.
You can see the main Christmas tree off in the distance.
So hard to photograph in the evening.
Sorry for the blurs.

A garland of poinsettias layered on the
chandy over the table with crystal drops and silver snowflakes.

A cloche on a vintage redware dish on the side buffet.

Gotta love a little red truck delivering trees.

I change this around depending on the season.
Pumpkins for fall,
Little beachcballs for summer would be cute!

Another Santa I cut and designed from wood many years ago.
He is simply made from a 2x4

This photo in black and white takes me back to
Christmas many years ago.
Remember when we only had black and white photos?
Tell me you know this??
or am I that old?

My dining room is ready to go.
It will get a workout this Christmas
and
I love that it will.
It's not just a room to walk past.
I believe in enjoying all of the home.

Wishing you many happy times this Christmas.

See you again soon.
Have a great day!

Your DR looks so lovely, Celeste, and I adore your special touches, from the top of the hutch, the chandelier decorated, the beautiful tablescape, and your cute red truck (I want one!). I also love how you decorated the backs of the chairs and the pillow shams tucked into the side chair for a new look. Your tree adds such a special glow to the room, and yes, I certainly remember black and white photos!! Seeing your grandma's teaset again just made me smile, along with that precious mouse.
Thanks for giving us a peek at another room of your Christmas-y home! Love and hugs, Kitty

Lovely. To be honest, I love black and white photos, they have a charm all their own, remembering our childhood and family traditions. PicMonkey has a tutorial on photographing with Christmas lights. I need to get better at that myself.

Merry Christmas.

Everyone will love dining in there- so pretty! I like how you added the tie-ons to the back of the chairs. I have gifts to wrap and haven't even thought about baking cookies yet but I will! Most of my childhood is in black and white and then suddenly it goes to color! There is a certain nostalgia that comes from those old black and white photos that warm the heart.

Very pretty my friend. The little mouse is adorable and I'm not a fan of mice, LOL. I would like to decorate my chandelier next year, just have to find what I like. I have to be honest, I like black and white pictures. Nice added touch.

Once again your home looks lovely, Celestina. You always inspire me to do more changing out during the seasons.
Every nook and cranny in your home has such sweet details, much love and care has gone into your preparations for Christmas, and it is very evident. Your home certainly reflects your beauty, Celestina.

Your little treasure of a mouse is quite adorable snacking on his apple. He knows he's safe and no harm will come to Him in the hutch behind glass. :-)

Sounds like you have some beautiful festivities planned with much laughter I'm sure.

Merry Christmas~~ Debbie

OH BOY! It's coming! Darling Celeste, I am looking at your photos just thinking, "She is having fun." I too had a blast this past weekend fixing my home for a party we had. IT WAS MAGIC. There is nothing like fluffy up our nests and we all have so many different tastes and approaches, but the beauty is that we put so much love into our living spaces. Blessed are those who open their homes as well to share the fun! The countdown is on!

So beautiful! At my old home I loved draping flowers through my chandelier at the holiday too. My new dining room here needs an overhaul, we moved in last year, then the car accident... so I'm hoping to get it painted, reorganize and change the light to a chandelier again. This home was built in the 90's and it shows, lol. But little at a time. Always enjoy the lovely decorating you do. Your home is beautiful. Have a lovely day!

Blessings,
Jill

Your beautiful dining room is lovely to look at. Yes, black and white photos are in my childhood memories too. Just looking at your black and white photo made me think of the Christmas the year JFK was killed. How sad that day was for all of us back then.
