Texas Bluebonnet Blog Hop

Hi Friends!
So glad you stopped by for a visit today.

It's springtime in Texas
and
the Texas bloggers are welcoming the new season in with a little inspiration
from the Texas Bluebonnet Blog Hop.

Stacey
from
is our creator for today's blog hop.
and
I hope you will stop over and say hello
and visit the many participating today too.

************************

When I begin to style for a new season,
it usually means, cleaning and rearranging.

This spring finds me doing that and more
in my sitting room.

I first begin by taking everything away
and doing a good cleaning.
I remove all the accessories, wall art and more.
Notice the dust mop to the right?
It's my pride and joy and was my grandmother's from the 40's
or maybe even earlier.

It's a work horse to reach those areas a vacuum can't.
If I had to run out of my house in a hurry,
this is something I'd take with me.

Next,
I completely empty and clean the mantel and fireplace.

Once the cleaning is done,
I gather my inspirational pieces from around the house
and in my prop closet.

Here are some of those piece
 and
I must confess, a few new goodies this year too.

I found this HOME pillow last year and love it.

As you can see, I'm going a bit pastel this season.

S
Some new art work this year.

This piece is a Texas treasure and I love it.
The artist is Paul Valencay.
Horses in a watercolor wash of aqua shades of blue.
Love it!!

Then I got busy and
created this new banner for the mantel.

I simply stenciled SPRING
on cardboard banner shapes atop
pretty scrapbook papers.
I can turn it around and stencil summer in the future.

So now let's put it all together and see the before and after for spring.

BEFORE
AFTER
BEFORE
AFTER
Now you know me~
I make furniture switches all the time.
If you remember,
the red plaid chair that I placed here after Christmas~ still love it
but, it went to the master bedroom where I have touches of red
and
these vintage wicker chairs came from that space.
Perfect for spring!
Love them here better.

Lots of light streaming in makes this the sunniest room in my home.

I left the black and neutral design rug for an anchor piece
and
to balance off the darker pieces in the room.

So this is the beginning of spring inside my Texas cottage.
Here are a few little views from around the room.

Thank you for visiting today.

Before I go I'll leave you with one of my favorite Texas wildflowers to paint.
The
Bluebonnet!

Come join the fun and visit the Texas Bloggers sharing springtime.

Have a great weekend.

Absolutely beautiful!! It's difficult to say there is a favorite but I do lean toward the horses. Such an incredible painting ~ I love it! My mother used to have a dust mop that looked very much like yours. Sure wish I had it with these hardwood floors! :) You are so creative and your home looks so warm and welcoming!

P.S. I could just take a nap on the sofa and wrap up in that beautiful throw!

Celeste I always experience such joy when I visit your blog. My mother was a firm believer in spring cleaning and I remember sweeping her dust mop over our hard wood floors. I love all of your pastel touches for spring!

I have the mug to match your bird and flowers dish. It makes me happy every time I look at it and I love to drink my morning coffee from it. All your decor is beautiful, especially the painting of the horses.

Gorgeous transformation.
Love your term, prop closet. Since dabbling with still life photos I seem to be developing a 'prop' room--yikes.
And most of all I love that you have the back of your piano exposed---form and function. The soundboard can sing its heart out and the wood provides texture to the room.

Good Morning Celeste! What sweet pastel colors you decorate with! It's all rather romantic and speaks of the beauty of perhaps the Victorian days! Thank you for sharing your lovely home all dressed for Easter day! Hugs and blessings!

As I sit here in my home which is drenched in dark gray skies pouring rain down upon us, my visit to your Springtime Bluebonnet Home is very uplifting. I so love how you repurpose your decor and move things from room to room. The pastels are a fresh breath of Spring and very lovely. You are without a doubt the "First Lady" of home decor! Such a pretty room...with the sun streaming in. I love the blue touches and just a bit of pink. I'm really not a pastel type of person---except in the bedroom. But I love this clean pallette for spring...fresh and well, SPRING! Thanks for sharing, Sandi

Ahh I love all this! That new watercolor picture is awesome! Love each and every detail you've put together. Your home definitely looks freshened up and ready for spring! I found a cotton floor mop like you have right after we put in the wood floor in the dining room. I love that thing too! I wonder if the old one my mom had is still around- I'll have to check! Love that cute No. 2 tin!

Celestina,
Your watercolor of the horses is spectacular and is the perfect centerpiece for all your pastel Spring touches. I need you to come my house and bring your grandmother's dust mop. I've been working on Spring cleaning, but keep getting sidetracked to do other things. Like getting the toilet repaired after I accidentally flushed the toilet paper dispenser ring!
